Newly Vegan Simon Cowell Donates Over $32.6k to Close Down a Dog Meat Farm

Simon Cowell, The America’s Got Talent judge, recently contributed more than $32.6k to The Humane Society so that they can shut down a dog meat farm in South Korea. His donation has been of such great help that over 200 dogs will be rescued from the farm and taken to shelters in the US, the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Cowell’s major act of kindness motivated his fans to contribute as well, leading to additional donations of $32,640.

“Simon’s generous donation means the world to us, and provides a huge boost to our appeal to close this horrendous dog meat farm,” HSI UK Executive Director Claire Bass said in a statement. “More than 200 dogs are languishing in the most appalling conditions, but we have a real chance to save them.”

He added, “These poor dogs have had the worst lives so far, so we’re desperate to get them out of those dreadful cages and show them love, soft beds and loving arms for the first time in their lives.”

Cowell has been supporting HSI’s movement for a long time now. During the #EndDogMeat campaign, he told Good Morning Britain that eating a dog would be like “eating your friend.”

“It’s the fact you’re eating such a kind, helpless, sweet animal,” he added.
