Hamilton, a vegan Formula One driver, has stated that he’s going to discuss with his Mercedes team about making leather free cars. He also stated that he wants to push for a conscious and sustainable practices in Formula 1.
“I am trying to push for sustainability with my team,” Hamilton told Options, a Malaysian lifestyle publication. “I am trying to get more involved in Formula 1 and be more conscious.”
“Mercedes-Benz is a huge organisation,” Hamilton continued. “I have got a phone call with the CEO later today to discuss how we can work on getting rid of all the leather supplied to the cars. That is something I want to be involved in.”
Concerned about the carbon footprint of Formula 1, Hamilton has committed to go carbon neutral by the end of the year.
The Formula One star is a vegan advocated and is known for promoting veganism and environmental sustainability on his social media.
He also co-produced the famous vegan documentary “The Game Changers” available on Netflix. The documentary debunks the misconception that high performance athletes need animal protein to maintain their peak performance.
